Founded in 1960, the Korean-American Association of Greater New
York not only represents half a million Korean-Americans residing
in the New York Metropolitan area, but also advocates for the
enhancement of political rights and interests of Korean-Americans.
The Korean-American Association of Greater New York is a non-
profit organization which has served as a bridge that connects
Korean-American to the American mainstream along with
approximately 500 other Korean-American organizations in the
New York metropolitan area in various fields of specialty, including
education, culture, vocational help, and community affair.
I have been doing community service for the past 17 years in
various different capacities and for the last 5 years, was the
president of the Korean American Youth Foundation which helps
2nd generation Korean-Americans with their advancement into
I have decided to run for the president of KAAGNY because even
though there are so many different organizations in the Korean
community that are doing similar work, I believe that we are
spreading our resources too thin.
However if we can work together, we can accomplish much more
and reap bigger benefits.
If elected as the president of KAAGNY, I want to get young
Korean-Americans involved so they can work to understand the
Korean-American community and go out to mainstream to
represent our community. This will close the gap between the 1st
and 2nd generation Korean Americans.
